Insert Coin:

Matt, Ian and Corey talk about some games played over the last week. Worms is still on everyone’s mind and Ian’s been heavy into that. Andrew also bought Worms: Reloaded during the Steam sale and gifted it to the GDP team. Matt downloaded Super Meat Boy during the Steam sale, and without a controller for his PC, he’s been using the keyboard. Corey purchased a bunch of games during the Steam sale so this has resulted in him playing a lot of games for 10 – 15 minutes (including Trine 2 and Space Pirates and Zombies.) The one he spent the most time with, however, was Arma 2. He describes it as a military simulator. Players get dropped into a massive map and must basically survive by finding weapons, shelter etc. Matt talks about a game he downloaded for his kids. Based off Where’s My Water, the Disney version, Phineas and Ferb Arcade, features the characters of the same name.

Bounty Board:

Warren, Corey and Andrew chat about some notable news. First, Nintendo confirmed that, despite posting overall losses, the 3DS is becoming more profitable. There’s also some discussion about the upcoming 3DS XL (release date: August 19 in North America.) Warren fills us in on Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. One of the coolest new features is that you can build your own transformer for multiplayer. Next is the news of Gabe Newell’s Windows 8 ‘catastrophe’ statement. Another bit is that Notch is worried about putting Minecraft on Steam because he doesn’t want Steam to be the only option for developers to release PC games. Lastly, Spy vs. Spy is coming to iOS and Darksiders 2 has a gameplay trailer.

Warp Zone:

Warren and Ian take it to the max in this week’s debate. Matt also decides to skip the secret word. This week’s topics are:

  • Is Gabe Newell’s ‘catastrophe’ statement regarding Windows 8 cause for concern?
  • Which system was truly a better platform: Nintendo or Sega?
  • When you were a kid did brand new shoes really make you run faster?
  • Is Mathew Hoy actually the brains behind ‘Anonymous’?
  • In a race around the world, who would win: Bumblebee or Spy Hunter?
